Relax Through Your Visit with Minimal Sedation at True Dentistry Plus
What is Minimal Sedation?
At True Dentistry Plus in Miami, FL, we understand that visiting the dentist can be a source of anxiety for many patients. That’s why we offer Minimal Sedation Dentistry—a safe and effective way to help you feel calm, relaxed, and comfortable throughout your dental procedure.
Minimal sedation, also known as anxiolysis, is the lightest form of sedation used in dentistry. It involves the use of prescription oral sedatives (anxiolytics) that are taken before your appointment. You remain awake and responsive during your treatment, but feel significantly more at ease and less aware of the dental work being done.

Pre-Appointment Consultation
We’ll assess your medical history and anxiety levels to determine if minimal sedation is right for you.

Taking the Medication
You’ll take the prescribed anxiolytic (such as a benzodiazepine) shortly before your appointment to help you relax.

During the Procedure
You’ll feel calm and drowsy but remain conscious and able to respond to questions or instructions.

After the Procedure
Because the effects of the medication can linger, you’ll need someone to drive you home after your appointment.
Who Can Benefit from Sedation Dentistry?
This sedation option is ideal for patients who:
- Experience mild to moderate dental anxiety
- Have a low pain threshold
- Need longer or multiple procedures
- Have a sensitive gag reflex
- Have had negative dental experiences in the past
Benefits of Sedation Dentistry

Reduces Anxiety
and Fear
Sedation dentistry helps patients feel calm and relaxed during dental procedures—especially those with dental phobia or anxiety. It makes the experience more manageable and less emotionally stressful.

Increases Comfort During Treatment
With minimal sedation, patients experience reduced sensitivity to pain, gag reflexes, and discomfort. This allows the dentist to perform procedures more efficiently while keeping the patient at ease.

Allows for More Work in Fewer Visits
Because the patient is more relaxed, the dentist can often complete multiple treatments in one session, minimizing the number of visits needed—saving time and reducing the overall stress of dental care.
